Mr. Lynn Baldwin, Jr., age 70 of Winterset Drive Greensboro, NC (formerly of Pittsboro) passed on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC. Mr. Lynn Baldwin, Jr, eldest son of the late Mrs. Ethel Pugh Baldwin and the late Rev. Lynn Baldwin, Sr, was born on November 21, 1948 in Chatham County, North Carolina. He was called to His Heavenly Home on Wednesday, November, 13, 2019.
Affectionately known as “Boat”, “LBJ” was a 1967 graduate of Chatham High School, Siler City, NC. He continued with his educational goals and in May 1972 earned a Bachelor of ScienceMechanical Engineering Degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University, Greensboro, NC.
During his engineering career, beginning with Carolina Power and Light Company, Dupont and finally General Motors as the Area Service Manager - South Central Region, he broke barriers and gained milestones. In 2008, he retired from GMC after 24 years of service and returned to reside in Greensboro, NC
Through his kind, logical manner of explaining the many intricacies of life experiences , Lynn touched the lives of many including brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, great nephews, as well as other family members and friends. He had the unique ability of making complicated things seem so simple.
A unique jokester and fun loving, with a straight face and laughter inside, he expelled articulate captivating and entertaining stories which peaked your interest with intensity and wonder, but to only realize it was a joke and everyone enjoyed a great laugh.
Lynn loved racing his Blue 1972 Plymouth Road Runner, racing was his passion even in high school. He truly enjoyed this sport. He rebuilt his engine and he was the chief mechanic of his Blue.
At an early age he joined Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church and after graduation from College, his employment carried him to different states where he attended various churches and upon retirement and his subsequent return to North Carolina he attended East White Oak Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC under the leadership of Bishop Benjamin Mitman.
His precious life will be remembered, honored and cherished by his loving wife, Vera Jean Baldwin, Sons, Chadwick Baldwin (Vertina), William Summerville; daughters - Beverly MIddleton, and Paula Summerville.
His life will be remembered and treasured by his six brothers and one sister, Herman L. Baldwin (Wendy), Clifton Baldwin, Genis Baldwin (Frankie), sister; Pamela Baldwin, brothers; Vernon G. Baldwin, Dr. Phillip M. Baldwin (Wynell), and R. Samuel Baldwin. Seven Brother in-laws; Bishop Edward Jones (Vivian), Deacon Mike Jones (Helen), James Jones, David Jones (Elouise), Charles Jones (Valerie) and Thomas Jones (Rose). Four Sister in-laws; Shirley Tucker (Thomas), Ruby Gills, Minnie Patterson, and Lena Coley. Special Aunts & Uncle - Virginia Degraffeneridt, Letha Blount and Earnest Pugh. Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Great Nephews and a host of cousins, family, other relatives and friends.
