Joyce Sanders, 69, of 1541 New Garden Rd., Greensboro, NC passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Hospice Home at High Point.
Minister Joyce Jones Sanders, 69, of Greensboro, NC passed away on September 21, 2019.
Minister Joyce Sanders was born in Sanford, NC to Mildred Stewart Jones and James Edward Jones Sr. on October 21, 1949. She graduated from W.B. Wicker High School in Sanford, NC. She received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Master of Education from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. In 2017 she proudly graduated from Apex School of Theology with honors, earning her Master of Divinity.
Throughout her career she worked as a compassionate educator spending most of her career at Western Alamance High School in Burlington, NC and High School Ahead Academy in Greensboro, NC. Minister Joyce pursued her passion for ministry at Williams Memorial CME Church in High Point, NC after retiring from teaching. One of her proudest moment was when she became an ordained. Minister Joyce preached the Gospel, assisted in the leadership of Worship, taught Youth Church and Bible Study, assisted in teaching Singles’ Sunday School Class, prepared extensive Bible Study Guides, and ministering to those at Nursing and Rehabilitation facilities. She was an integral part of the Grief Ministry and Bible Study Committee. She had a strong spiritual knowledge and utilized it as an educator in the Ministers’ Preparatory class. Minister Joyce participated in many outreach missions and programs. Her favorite was the annual Feeding of 10,000 for Thanksgiving for which she prepared throughout the year.
Minister Joyce is survived by daughters, Angela Hines-Wilson (Derek Wilson) and Tawana Sanders; son, James Sanders; grandchild, Dayanna Wilson; sisters, Bobby Thomas and Patricia Edmonds; nephew, Melvin Baldwin and niece, LaTonya Martin; cousins, Patricia Ann Edmond and Larry Quick, and many other beloved relatives, friends, and students.
Minister Joyce will be dearly missed, but her family knows she is in heaven singing praises to the Lord.
