Mr. Jessie James Bryant Jr., age 70 of 813 W. McIntosh Street, Sanford, NC passed on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC. 

Deacon Jessie James Bryant, Jr., son of the late Jessie Bryant, Sr. and Sadie Clara Judd Bryant, was born on December 8, 1947 in Sanford, North Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, at 8:45 a. m., May 30, 2018 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, North Carolina.

He joined Chestnut A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age and later joined White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education in Lee County Public School System, graduating from W. B. Wicker High School in 1966.  Upon completion of his education he worked at J. T. Davenport & Sons and later moved to Washington, D. C. where he married Cleo Elizabeth Owens. They lived and worked there for four years. In 1970 they decided to move back to Sanford, N.C. and he continued his duties at J. T. Davenport & Sons. He later retired and started at Lee County, Transit System, and drove the COLTS Van until his health declined.

He joined into Holy matrimony to Cleo E. Owens on August 7, 1970, to this union two sons and one daughter, Darrell, Bertram (Tripp) and Jessica were born.

He was a faithful member of White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, keeping everything in order and making sure the finances were in check at all times. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eustace Bryant; sister, Gwendolyn B. Newby; maternal grandparents, Tobie and Nina Judd, and paternal grandparents, Wed and Mae Bryant.

Deacon Bryant leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Cleo Bryant; two sons, Darrell, of the home & Bertram (Tripp) Bryant of Spring Lake, NC; the apple of his eye, his only daughter, Jessica, of Garner, NC; three grandchildren, La’Quesha, Joshua & Kaleah; one great grandson, Ahmeir; brothers: Lynwood of Winston Salem, NC and Larry Bryant of Broadway, NC; two aunts, Betty Judd of Broadway, NC and Velour Bryant of Peoria, AZ; one uncle, Arthur Lee McNeill of Sanford, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
