James Odean Swann

James Odean Swann, age 78 of 3327 Truelove St., Sanford, NC passed on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pineshurst, NC. 

James Odean Swann was born January 13th, 1940 and passed to eternity on Wednesday September 19th, 2018 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.  He was surrounded by his family and died peacefully.

Odean as he was affectionately known was the son of the late Alfreda and James Swann. He graduated in 1958 from Johnsonville High School. He was a Jack of all trades and a master of many skills. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing collards. He was a hard worker and a good provider.

He was a God-fearing man, who at an early age joined Love Grove AME Zion Church. He also supported Mt. Nebo and other churches. 

Odean is survived by his loving wife of fifty seven years, Shirley; one daughter, Tammy Swann; three sons: Mark Swann, Derrick Swann, and Jeffrey Swann (Audrey ): two sisters, Mary Perkins, and Beatrice McKoy (Edward) both of Olivia N.C.; one brother, Joseph Swann (Brenda) of New Hill N.C.; six grandchildren: Rayshawn, Brandon, Dequon, Elijah, Whitney, and Hannah; five great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Veronica Watson, and Darla Watson; one brother-in-law, Cornel Watson (Angela) of Sanford N.C., and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
