Irene Douglas Campbell Obituary

Evangelist Irene Douglas Campbell, age 85 of 35 Industrial Dr., Bunnlevel, NC passed on Monday, October, 14, 2019 at Harnett Central Hospital.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

 

Early on Monday morning, October 14, 2019, Jesus called Evangelist Irene Augusta Douglas Campbell to be present with Him. Irene was born on August 6, 1934 in Harnett County, NC to the late Willie and Mary Wilson Douglas. She attended Shawtown High School in Harnett County. Irene worked at Teri Hill as a seamstress.  Irene was known as “Peaches”, “Reanie Beanie”, and “Ma Rene”.

Irene received her salvation at an early age at Chapel Hill AME Zion Church, Broadway NC. On December 23, 1984, Irene preached her trial sermon at Zion Wall FWB Church, Linden NC.

Irene demonstrated her love for God through her many works of  mission while spreading love and testifying to God’s goodness with whomever she met and talked to. She always tried to inspire others to live for Christ and exemplified unwavering faith throughout her life. Irene was a loving daughter, mother, wife, sister, and friend. She was always willing to help and  pray for others. Irene was known for spreading the love of God by giving out her prayer cloths. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91.

Irene was a faithful member and disciple at The Secure House of Prayer, Erwin NC, where she served as an associate minister and the piano player. During her time of ministry,   she embodied the mission to love like Jesus and evangelize everywhere. Irene met the love of her life, the late Dewey Campbell, and they were united in Holy Matrimony in 1954.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents: Deacon Willie and Mary Douglas; husband: Dewey Campbell; son: Dewey Lewis Campbell; daughters: Edna Leach and Betty Williams; sister: Evangelist Frances Ray; brothers: Carey Douglas, West Douglas, and Bert Douglas; and son-in-law: Robert Covington.

Irene leaves to honor and cherish her memories: three children: Donna Covington of Sanford, NC, Terry Campbell of Bunnlevel, NC, and Richard Douglas (Jackie) of Bunnlevel, NC; nine grandchildren: Cachet Douglas of Benson, NC, Buena Worth of Raleigh, NC, Dr. Sharron Williams of Sanford, NC, Tristan Foxx (Denise) of Fayetteville, NC, Amber Leach of  Charlotte, NC, Christy Douglas of Charlotte, NC, Jasmine Jacobs of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Allen Williams of Raleigh, NC, and Te’Pria Campbell of Bunnlevel, NC; three great-grandchildren: Zion, LaMia, and Ryan; siblings: McKinley Douglas of Erwin, NC,  Evangelist Elizabeth Cameron of Sanford, NC, and Deacon Willie Lee Douglas (Shirley) of Greensboro, NC; five sisters-in-law: Pearlie Walker of Linden, NC, Margaret Judd of Sanford, NC, Nellie McLean of Bunnlevel, NC, Cora Walker of Lillington, NC, and Elsie Lee of Erwin, NC; spiritual sister & pastor: Pastor Nancy Keele; spiritual daughter: Yvonne Mitchell; and a host  of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, spiritual sons and daughters, and friends.

Visitation will be held at the home of Elsie Lee, 3720 Bunnlevel Erwin rd, Erwin NC, 28339.
