Mr. Harry Winstead Fox age 70 of 212 Talley Ave, Sanford NC, passed on Monday, September, 30, 2019 at UNC Hospice Home.
Harry Winstead Fox transitioned from this life on September 30, 2019 at UNC Hospice, in Pittsboro, NC at the age of 70. Harry ended his journey surrounded by his loved ones.
Harry was born on July 6, 1949, to the late Tull and Gertrude Fox, in Sanford, NC. He attended W. B. Wicker School, where he obtained his high school diploma. Harry resided in Baltimore, MD for a few years before moving back to NC in 1998. He was totally blind due to injuries received while residing in Baltimore. Although totally blind, against the odds, Harry maintained his independence and live alone for over 20 years.
Harry loved his entire family, without question. Anyone around him long enough would get some sort of nickname and become family. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone that needed help. His reasoning behind it was "I've been there and I know what it feels like." He fed people when they were hungry and gave shelter when needed. Harry had a sharp mind and witty sense of humor. He would often say, "you can't get much past The Fox". He always had a slick comment for any given situation. For instance, if he asked a question and your answer began with "well", his response would be "that's a mighty deep subject for such a shallow mind." You could always count on him for a good laugh.
Harry was preceded in death by his two brothers, Thomas Fox and Joseph Fox, and one sister, Elizabeth Simmons.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his two loving children, Michael Fox and Sherry F. Johnson (Anthony), both of Sanford, NC; one sister, Clara Fox-Reese (John) of Sanford, NC and "the other" brother, James Fox (Rena) of Goldston, NC; nine grandchildren: Michael (Brandi), Ryan, Porsha, Terence (Sherri), Donovan, Jordan, Deja (Darius), Casey, and Anthony; 12 great-grands; a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Harry will be sorely missed by his family and those that knew him
