Mr. George Elliott Alston, age 67 of Pittsboro, NC, passed on Thursday, August 22, 2019.
George Elliot Alston, son of the late Annie and Alton Alston, Sr. was born May 8,1952 in Pittsboro, NC. He attended Horton High School from 1st through 12th grade. In his early years he attended Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church.
After graduation he went to work at Selig Furniture company making furniture. He remained there for 13 years until they went out of business. He then went to work at UNC Hospitals. There he worked in the Transportation Department and then later moved to Central Distribution. Everyone that met him, loved him. He was lovingly called “Pipe”. He had a unique laugh that can never be duplicated. He retired from UNC Hospitals.
In his early childhood he worked the farm and went hunting and fishing with his father. Those became his favorite past times. He learned to cook from his mother. He often brought venison and other dishes to work for his coworkers. He will also be remembered for the epic parties he threw for his friends and family. After retiring he lost his leg to diabetes, but he still had a great attitude. He quietly departed this life Thursday, August 22, 2019 at home in Pittsboro, NC., where he lived all his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Corene and Mary Elizabeth Alston.
He is survived by his son, Nicklaus Alston, twin daughters Raven and Nicole Tillman, granddaughters Nivia and Camryn Alston, sisters, Pauline Eaves, and Elnora Smith, brother Alton Alston, Jr. (Mary) and a host of devoted nieces, great nieces, great-great niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
