Franklin Delano Rosevelt Stokes

Franklin Delano Rosevelt Stokes, age 83 of 216-17 131st Ave., Laurelton, NY passed on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY. 

Franklin DeLano Roosevelt Stokes was born September 8th, 1934 to the late John Stokes Sr. and the late Lovenia Windham Stokes of Sanford, North Carolina. Franklin was the youngest of 13 children, 8 brothers and 4 sisters. He attended and graduated from W.B. Wicker High School, then continued his higher education at North Carolina A&T where he graduated, achieving his Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Engineering.

Franklin embarked on a career with New York City Department of Transportation, where he served the city as an Assistant Electrical Engineer, and he retired after 32 years. Franklin moved to Queens, New York and in 1990 met his wife Michele Ann Lyew. He joined Amity Baptist Church where He served as a Deacon until his passing. 

Franklin was greatly appreciated and loved in his community for his gentle and caring nature. He opened his doors to anyone in need and was always ready and willing to impart wisdom to all that would listen. Franklin was dedicated to His God, his church, and his wife. He loved his wife Michele and went out his way to please her, care for her and give her all she needed. Franklin will be sorely missed. His infectious smile gave encouragement and motivation to so many.                                           

Franklin DeLano Roosevelt Stokes leaves behind a Legacy of Goodwill and Openheartedness. A gentleman unsurpassed by any. He leaves behind many from whom He received honor. He leaves behind no natural children, but through spiritual conception He had both sons and daughters. All who knew him will remember him dearly. Franklin leaves behind a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends to mourn him. God Bless You Uncle Frank.
