Frances Pulley Obituary

Frances Pulley, age 77 of 412 Wagon Trail Rd., Sanford, NC passed on Monday, January 6, 2020 at her residence.

Frances Carol Pulley the daughter of the late Robert Wade Pulley and Iona Alice Pulley Gaines was born on August 6th, 1942. God called her name on January 6th, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Frances, or Sis as she was affectionately called, was the 4th oldest of 7 children. 3 of whom preceded her in death: John, Neal and Peggy, along w/ her late daughter Vivian Machelle Pulley.

Frances graduated from Johnsonville High School in Harnett County, North Carolina and moved to upstate New York to work as a domestic, but soon found herself living in Harlem, New York where she obtained a job with the historic Bell Telephone Co., later known as Verizon and she retired after 35 years. Frances enjoyed living in Harlem during the height of its historic heyday, becoming a valued part of her community and raising her son, Jerrod.

She visited home often though and made plans to move back to North Carolina after retirement. Upon her return to North Carolina, Frances was happy to be back with her family and church family. Frances had a true heart for service. She loved to care for others. If there was a need for care, she would do all she could to provide it.  Frances was able to share her love of singing as she sang with the Jubilee’s at McQueen’s Chapel UMC for many years. Frances’ greatest joy came from doting on her grandchildren Ari and Aryn.

Frances leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved son, Jerrod Thompson and his wife, Andrea Wright-Thompson. The grandchildren that held her heart, Ari and Aryn Wright-Thompson, Julisa Logan and her son, Omarion whom Frances considered daughter and grandson of the heart; sisters, Lola Wilson (Elmer) of Sanford, Sandra Greene (Cartwright) of Charlottesville, Va, Lythajane Pearson of New Jersey and one brother, Robert H. Pulley (Annie) of Sanford, special cousins and friends, Flora Blue and Bettie McAuley as well as a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.

Frances was the epitome of hardwork, unconditional love and kindness. She has been a great example to those she loves and we pray we all continue this as part of her legacy. We will forever love and remember the life of Frances Carol Pulley.
