Mrs. Evelyn L. Alston, age 78 of Durham, NC passed on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Carver Living Center, Durham, NC.
Ms. Evelyn Alston, “Tootsie” was born in Gainesville, Florida on June 24, 1941 and is the daughter of the late Willie Mae Smith of Gainesville, Florida. Evelyn departed her life on October 4, 2019 at Carver Living Center where she resided.
In her life she loved to sing and she was a singer in the band, “Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts” for many years. After that she found the Lord in 1987, where she sang at many churches in the area and afar churches too. She became an ordained minister at Rise and Shine in Durham, North Carolina until her health began to fail her at the end. She really loved the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Cynthia Foushee (Rev. Ira; oldest granddaughter, Kutana Warren of Erie, Pennsylvania; great-granddaughter, Mirror Manning of Erie, Pennsylvania; five grandsons of Erie, Pennsylvania; eight great-grandchildren of Erie, Pennsylvania; ex-husband, Frank Doug Alston(Mary) and a host of other family and friends.
