Emma Mae Heck

Emma Mae Heck, age 55 of 1013 S. 7th Street, Sanford, NC passed on Friday, December 22, 2017 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill. 

Emma Mae Heck was born on May 3, 1962 to the late Billie and Cora Heck McSwain. She departed this life on December 22, 2017 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC.

Emma was born and raised in Sanford, NC. She attended Lee County Public Schools and graduated from Lee Senior in 1980. She worked at various industries in Sanford. When her parents were ill she helped take care of them until their death. Emma worked at Parkview as a dietary aide and she loved her job. She was a member of New Generation Church.

Most people who encountered her were touched by her free spirit and her love for people. Emma was a very talented woman who could cook, do hair, knit, take care of people - young and old. She will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Cora Heck McSwain; one brother, Brian McSwain; maternal grandparents, Cicero and Emma Heck.

Emma leaves to cherish her memories: her two sons, Carlos Heck of Roanoke Virginia and Antonio Heck of Sanford, NC; one daughter, Kymberly (Darrick) Lyons of Broadway, NC; two brothers, Billie and Shanteal McSwain both of Sanford, NC; two sisters, Kathy and Karen McSwain both of Sanford, NC; her grandparents, Albert Chesney and Catherine Chesney of Sanford, NC; eight grandchildren; her aunts and uncles, Julia (Robert) Heck, Norma K. Bryant, Elion (Levi) Evans, Jimmie (Sheron) McIver, Roland (Cathleen) McIver and George McIver; a very special friend, Tushanda Petty Turner of Raleigh, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
