Ella Mae Tyson Wright age 85 of 678 Gum Springs Church Rd., Moncure, NC passed on Monday, November, 18, 2019 at Coventry House Of Siler City.
Ella Mae Tyson Wright was born on December 27, 1933 to the late Theodore and Mattie Hart Tyson. She slept away peacefully at the Coventry House of Siler City on November 18, 2019.
She attended and graduated from JS Waters School where she played on the basketball team.
From a young age, Mae was a very active member of Union Grove AME Zion Church and willingly served wherever needed. She was also well known for baking delicious chocolate cakes and pies for church and community events.
In 1977, she married Rev. Ander Wright and moved to Hope Mills, NC. She was a devoted wife who always stood with her husband at whatever church he pastored. His children and grandchildren became like hers, as she was called Ma Mae and Grandma Mae. She made many friends, who were like family, from the churches Rev. Wright pastored and she was Sister Wright to them. After Rev. Wright retired from pastoring, they attended Willis Creek AME Zion Church. When her husband passed in 2016, they had been married 39 years.
To her family, she was lovingly known as Sis, Aunt Mae, Auntie, and Mae. Each of her family members, immediate and extended, held a special place in her heart and it always brought joy to her to be able to give to them. Upon her return to Chatham County in 2016, she lived with her niece, Janice, and attended Union Grove faithfully as long as her health allowed.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: devoted brother and sister-in-law, Minister William and Mildred Tyson, of Tarboro, NC; special niece/daughter/caregiver, Janice T. McKoy, of Moncure, NC; special great nephew/grandson, Mark Tyson and wife, Linette, of Pittsboro, NC; great niece who helped care for her, Sharon McKoy, of Moncure, NC; children of Rev.
