Earnestine Cameron Swann

Earnestine Cameron Swann, age 81 passed on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, NC.

Earnestine Cameron Swann, the daughter of the late Daniel Elliot and Ethel Cameron LeGrand was born in Harnett County, North Carolina on February 5, 1937.  Earnestine was an only child who grew up surrounded by her mother, grandparents, aunts and uncles. 

Earnestine received her education in the Harnett County School System where she attended Johnsonville High School.  Upon entering the workforce, Earnestine was employed with the Department of the Army in Fort Bragg, North Carolina where she remained so until her retirement with over 40 years of faithful service. 

Earnestine was united in holy matrimony to the late David Swann.  “Tine” and David made their home in the town of Olivia, North Carolina.  Earnestine became the loving mother of six children, Juanita Cameron Bethea, the eldest son  David Fredrick Swann,  who preceded her in death, Danny Reginald Swann, Tina Lavonne Swann-Binaxas and twin boys Terry Lynn Swann and Jerry Dean Swann . 

At an early age, Earnestine was introduced to the word of God and attended church as a regular member. Accepting Jesus as her personal savior would eventually lead her to join the family church of her husband.  Earnestine would later become a member of the Church of God, Broadway where she worked as a dedicated servant.  She often worked as an usher, choir member and church secretary. 

Even after becoming a widow left to raise five young teens on her own, Earnestine made sure that the children always had a home.  There was never a time in her life that she would not be willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who asked.  She was fiercely and unapologetically independent and never wanted to be a burden to anyone.

Upon entering the hospital Wednesday, Earnestine said to her family, “I’m all right.”  Late Friday afternoon on June 22, 2018 , "Heaven sent angels down to give her wings and to escort her into the arms of her heavenly father".  Now she has made it through the storm and is walking in those better days.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters, Juanita (Daren) Bethea of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Tina Swann-Binaxas (Peter) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three sons, Danny Swann of Atlanta, Georgia; Jerry Swann of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Terry Swann of Tampa, Florida; one sister-in-law, Zettie Sumpter of Sanford, NC; two aunts, Dessie Murchison of Olivia, North Carolina and Marie Bell of Springfield, Massachusetts; 10 grandchildren, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
