Earl Alexander Obituary

Mr. Earl D. Alexander, age 74 of 30 Major Lee Farrar Drive, Siler City, NC passed on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at UNC Hospice Home, Pittsboro, NC.

Earl Dwight Alexander, Jr., fondly known as Dwight or June, was born on Sunday, August 6, 1944 to the
late Earl and Lelah Alexander of Goldston, NC. Earl entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at UNC Hospice House.

On November 28, 1965 Earl married his beloved wife Alice Alston Alexander. To this union of 53 years two children were born.

Earl was a member of Roberts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He loved to sing in the choir. His favorite song was I Am Free, Praise the Lord I’m Free.  He worked at Old Dominion Freight Lines for over 25 years. After retirement he went to work for Chatham Transit where he would help transport people in need of help with transportation.

Earl was full of life and he had a tremendous love for people. He knew someone almost everywhere he went. His memory was impeccable. He could tell you things that happened 60 years ago. He kept you laughing. He loved cars, watching westerns and a good conversation. If he didn’t know the latest news then no one did. He would talk on the phone to his good friend Larry Cheek and cousin Roy Wicker every day. Them along with Bobby Goins and Jimmy Thompson were known as his best friends.

Earl leaves to cherish his memory: His wife, Alice Alexander; two children, Earl Alexander, III (Dawanna) of Burlington, NC and Jacqueline Brown (Keith) of Graham, NC; one sibling, Pastor Delois W. Curry; three first cousins whom were raised as his siblings: Donnie Wicker, Jerry Smith and Gilda Smith;  six grandchildren: Ashley Brooks, Tony Martin (Christen), Tim Martin, Jessica Alexander, India Shoffner and Thomas Alexander; one great grandchild, Richard Green, III; five step-grandchildren, Tiffany Cassidy, Shani’ya Faucette, Jawuan Johnson, Evelyn Brown and Essence Brown; one aunt, Elmira Wicker; two god children: Charity Ross and Tina Pugh.  He has eighteen nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends who's lives he touched.
