Ms. Doris Ann Tyson, age 67 of 427 Rosser Rd., Bear Creek transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her residence.j
Ms. Doris Ann Tyson was born on October 18, 1952 to the late Alton Hoover and Dorothy McLeod Tyson in Chatham County, North Carolina. At an early age Ann (as she was known by most) joined Union Grove AME Zion Church where she worked diligently in the youth department and was a church representative at conferences. Later she joined Taylors Chapel where she worked faithfully until her health declined. She served in many capacities within the church operating in a spirit of excellence and dedication fulfilling each task assigned to her. She made herself available to work in the House of God.
Ann was a hard worker and an exceptional student. After graduation from high school, she attended Lenoir Community College and majored in library information technology. She was a librarian at Alamance Community College for over 30 years until her health prevented her to continue working. She held many part-time jobs including the role of assistant manager at Hardees in Pittsboro, North Carolina where she offered many job opportunities to those looking for employment. She was known by staff as a dedicated manager, co-worker and friend.
Ann was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed being around her family, laughing, playfully teasing young children, seafood boils and family celebrations. She also enjoyed her cousin Cindy Baldwin's salmon patties, her outings with Shell Farrar, and special time spent with Christy Minter, Selma McLean and Ava Spruiell. Ann was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters, Annette and Gina Tyson, nephew, Maronto Williams and niece, Khadijah Chesney.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving son and daughter, Derrick Stephen Tyson (Stephanie) and Jessica Carmen Tyson. Ann was a grandmother to many including Shakaysha, Malana, Derykah, Nasceria, Maurice, Ty'Tiana, Kiara and Chaketa. She will be dearly missed by her remaining siblings Deborah Kaye, Pamela Jean (Richard), Jacqueline Lynne, Rodney Alton and Ronnie Allen (Gerri) in addition to her nieces and nephews.Ann's uncle, William Tyson (Mildred), aunt, Lula Tyson, great aunt, Ada Peoples and god-daughter, Quianna Winchester will also deeply miss her and hold her dear in their hearts.
