Doris Davis Marsh

August 14, 1951 ~ September 4, 2017 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Mrs. Doris Davis Marsh age 66, of 5711 US 421, Bear Creek, NC passed on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Chatham Hospital, Siler City, NC.

Doris Jean Davis Marsh, the daughter of the late Charlie and Bessie Davis was born August 14, 1951 at home in High Falls, NC.

Doris graduated from North Moore High School in 1969. She continued her education at Sandhills Community College and received an associate’s degree in 1971, which lead to her pursuing a BA in Education at North Carolina Central University in 1974. While attending college, she met her eternal lovebird, Thomas Steve Marsh. On August 5, 1972, they married and shared a 45 year union of unconditional love. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Jason and Nia.

The early years of teaching were at Henry Siler Elementary in Siler City, NC within the Chatham County School System. The bulk of her life’s work was spent as an educator at Siler City   Elementary. Doris was passionate about teaching and providing her students with the essential tools for success. Her motto was “Reading is fundamental.” In 2006, after 32 years of service,  Doris retired, but remained a “lifelong teacher.”

Doris was a woman of many hats, but she had a unique passion for cooking. She was our “Master Chef.”

Those who knew her were familiar with the self-taught chef’s great food and sculptured cakes. Her entrepreneurial spirit created the well-known business named DJ’s Creations. It was not just about cooking; it was the art of the experience that gave Doris gratification and joy in pleasing others with her gifts.

Doris was a woman known for helping and giving to others. It was through these Godly acts that she received her blessings. In true fashion, this angelic woman would say. “Baby Girl, you got to pass the blessing on.”

Doris enjoyed traveling, reading, shopping and was a wonderful care giver to many precious gems in her lifetime. Her most enjoyable moments were family gatherings. Doris, in her infinite wisdom has given us yet another reason to come together… “HER.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie “Buddy” and Bessie Davis; brothers, Aughty M. Davis, Tyrone Davis, Rodney Davis and Ricky Davis.

Doris lived a full life. Her memories will remain with her husband, Thomas Steve Marsh; her children, Jason Marsh of the home and Nia Shanece Marsh Pope (Joe) of Greensboro, NC; a sister, Kathleen Davis of Columbia, SC; a brother, Tony Davis of Brooklyn, New York; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Alston (Timothy) of Sanford, NC; Martha Cooper (Melvin) of Hemingway, SC and Mary Davis of High Falls, goddaughters, Ashley Wilson, Janai & Lashai Thompson, and a large host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
