Curtis Fearrington Obituary

Mr. Curtis Lee Fearrington, age 79 of 1391 Rochelle Drive, Chapel Hill, NC passed on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Siler City Center, Siler City, NC.

 Curtis Fearrington, son of the late Leroy and Marie Fearrington, was born on September 1, 1940 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and departed this life on September 1, 2019 at the Siler City Center in Siler City. He transitioned from this earthly life surrounded by family during a beside prayer. 

He attended Orange County Schools. He worked at UNC Hospital for 35 years in many roles until his retirement as head chef of the kitchen.

A man of great faith, Curtis was an active member of Terrells Creek Missionary Baptist Church for the majority of his life.  He served in numerous roles in the church; Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee, and member of the male choir just to highlight a few roles  Curtis was an active and dedicated supporter of his community.  He was a long time Mason of the St Mark Community Lodge #829 for 47 years and served as the 26th Deputy of the 26th District.  He was a faithful member of the St. Thomas Order of the Eastern Star #644 and the G. Wesley Allen Consistory #324.

He followed the a missionary creed, serving as a mentor and father figure to many, assisting family and friends during their time of need, and all while standing as a pillar of strength for his family and church. 

He was greeted in heaven by his wife, Phyllis Fearrington, two daughters, Wonetta Fearrington and Cynthia Leach, and brother, James Fearrington, who preceded him in death.  

He leaves to cherish his loving  memory his granddaughter, Breanna Leach, of Moncure; his daughter like niece, Schquthia Peacock (Myrick) of Durham; his son, Tony Harrison (Marynia) of Winston Salem.  Additionally, Curtis leaves behind three sisters Annie Farrow (George) of Chapel Hill, Barbara Williams of Pittsboro, and Mamie Seymour (Galento) of Pittsboro. He leaves 14 nieces and nephews, multiple great nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends to carry on his legacy.  

He received exemplary care during his final days at Siler City Center. We are indebted to the staff for treating our family member as if he was their own.

 

The family will gather at the home of his niece and sister, 894 Jack Bennett Rd, Chapel Hill, NC.
