Cora Louise (Thomas) Toomer

Mrs. Cora Louise  Toomer,  age 86 of Moncure, NC passed on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, NC.

Cora Louise Thomas Toomer born January 13, 1933 to the late Jasper Thomas & Susie Wilson.  Cora attended Haywood Community School in Moncure, NC and graduated from Horton High School in Pittsboro, NC.  She loved going to church greeting everyone with a smile, and often with a big generous hug!  As a youngster she did the ordinary things like play kickball, pick flowers, cook and clean.  As a young adult she did the extraordinary things.  She fell in love with her neighborhood sweet heart and was married to Hubert Alfonza Toomer, in March of 1955. 

She joined Liberty Chapel Church at an early age.  Being at church was like being at home for Cora- she served on various boards, committees and enjoyed singing in the choirs.  She was a leader, loving mother, gracious friend and a dedicated church member who worked tirelessly and still took the time to be caring, good and kind to others,

Children left to continue celebrating her life: Clarissa Neal (Bruce), Janet Pugh, Gabrilla Singh (Ronnie), Donell Toomer and Jasper Toomer; ten grandchildren: Deniese McKinney, Shareese Myers (Wayne), Jimmy Taylor (Jasmine), Carime Person (Darius), Trey Neal, Johnna Hancock, Christina Hancock, Shanice Lewis, Bruce Neal, Jr., Cierra Neal; twelve great grandchildren: Jasmine Taylor, LaTrelle Hickson, Dominique Davis, Treshawn Penny, Kristian McKinney, Jordan Penny, Sabian McKinney, Noel Taylor, Ayden Person, Raegan Bullock, Trinity Hancock and Jace Neal; four great great grandchildren: Jacobi Murphy, Jayden Murphy, Harmony Downing, Jarrod Downing, Jr.; two sisters: Delois Graham and Ann Alston (Dewitt), six sisters-in-law:Willis Thomas, Bertha Seymore, Doris Harris, Brenda Swann, two brothers-in-law, John Henry Toomer (Gretna) of New Jersey and Theodore Toomer (Janice) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and acquaintances.
