Catherine Edwards

Catherine Edwards, age 91 passed on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Keller's Oak Haven Retirement Home, Sanford, NC.

Catherine Newby Edwards was born February 18, 1927 in Moore County, North Carolina to the late Press Williams and Zelda Newby. Catherine received her wings on August 18, 2018.   Catherine was a dedicated member of Robinson Chapel church.  She Joined Robinson Chapel at an early age and began doing the Lord’s work.  Robinson Chapel is where she was a faithful tither, and a dedicated choir member until her health started to decline.  Catherine loved to fish, and listen to gospel music.  Catherine was married to the late Clinton Edwards Sr.

“Cat” or “Cattyboo” as she was so affectionately called was the mother of 13 children whom she loved so dearly.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of many years Clinton Edwards Sr., her children Carolyn and Calvin Edwards, Annie Ruth Edwards, Rosa Lee Dobins, Maxine Edwards Spears, Brenda Moore; her grandson, Eric Jackson; her siblings: Lesie Bain, Ettabelle Newby, Alice McDuffie, Clara Newby Murchison, Beatrice Cameron, and Leroy Newby.

Catherine leaves to mourn her passing: her three sons, Norman Edwards of Salisbury, NC, Clinton Edwards Jr. of Cameron, NC, and Anthony Edwards of  Indianapolis, Indiana; her beloved daughters: Frances Brooks, of Sanford, NC, Sandra Faye Alford (Lorenzo) of Vass, NC, Racine Edwards, and Libby Ann McMillan (Elder) of Sanford, NC;  twelve grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; a special friend, Alice Williams (Ma Alice as Catherine called her), and Roberta Davis, her caregiver.  She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
