Bettye N. (Elliott) Watson

Bettye N. Watson, age 81 of 3420 Meade St., Sanford, NC passed on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation Center.  

God reached down and took another one of His angel’s home. Bettye Neal Watson, 81 of Sanford, NC passed from this life into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 18, 2018. She was born on January 14, 1937 in Vass, NC to the late Josephine and Matthew Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George E. Watson in September 2002; two sisters, and three brothers.

She accepted Jesus Christ early in life and was a devout Christian of deep-seated faith. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. Former member of the senior choir, usher, deaconess board and missionary circle and served each with many years of service.

She attended then what was Sanford Business School for brief education in secretarial studies. After leaving the manufacturing workforce, she later began and enjoyed selling Tupperware and became a top sales person earning awards, company trips and then became a homemaker.

Having a heart of gold and love for others, one of her greatest joy was being a babysitter, nurturing and loving other children as her own.  

She enjoyed cooking and was known for her favorite “sweet potato and coconut pies,” sewing, singing in the choir, family gatherings and holidays. She lived her long life with appreciation and quiet strength.

She was a loving, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by her loved ones and fondly remembered by all who came to know her.

Left to cherish her memories are her son: Rodney Watson; daughters, Bettina Seymoure (Ronald) and Jacqueline Watson all of Sanford, NC; four grandchildren, Geoffrey Watson Sr. (Nancy) of Sanford, NC; Darrell Johnson of Denver, CO, Demiko Watson (Jacinta) of Atlanta, GA, and Tiffany Seymore of Morrisville, NC; eight great grandchildren: Geoffrey Jr., Donnie, Kyra, George Nathan, Kenisha, Devin, Ahmon and Aja; one sister, Bridgett Jenkins of Carthage, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
