Betty Elaine (Buchanon) Cox

Betty Cox of 2001 Hope St., Sanford, NC passed on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at her residence.

Betty E. Buchanon Cox was born on September 14, 1955 to the late Eugene and Edith Dunlap Buchanon. Early in life she was united in holy matrimony to Norman L. Cox Sr. and to this union three children were born.

Betty attended Henry Grove School and graduated from Bowman Senior High School in 1973. Betty grew up in Henry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she confessed and gave her life to Christ. After marrying the love of her life, she joined Star of Hope Original Freewill Baptist Church.
Betty worked at various factories and fast food restaurants. Betty left the workforce to dedicate and uphold her sacred vows of marriage as she lovingly cared for her husband.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years; Norman Sr.; her son, Norman L. Cox Jr.; three brothers, Jessie Buchanon, James Buchanon, and Kenneth Buchanon and one sister, Rosa Buchanon Lowery.

Surviving to cherish her loving memories are her sons, Tremayne Buchanon (Fontella) and Kendrick Cox (Denise); her grandchildren, Skyy, Kendrick Jr., Norrice, Trey'Je, Kadijah, Deigo and Dustin; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Fred T. Dunlap (Mary) and Horace Buchanon; two sisters, Frances Pearson (Russell) and Gloria Buchanon; two brothers in law, Robert Cox Sr. (Jobe) and Joseph Cox; two sisters in law, Betty Kelly-Lee and Sylvia Judd (Howard), a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
