Bertha Evanna Smith Seymore, age 85 of Sanford, NC departed this life and entered Eternal Rest on December 27, 2019. She was born December 26, 1934 to the late Henry Toomer (Nelzie) & Clara Wilson (Willie).
She joined Liberty Chapel Congregational Church at an early age. She was a child of God. She was a member of the East Chatham Senior Citizen Organization, and Willing Workers Club. She was quiet with a sweet spirit.
She attended school at Haywood Community School in Moncure. She was employed at Pittsboro Poultry, Webster Poultry, Singer/Khoury Furniture, Herman-Miller Furniture Company, and Southern Architect.
She enjoyed cooking and family gatherings. She loved her family very much. They were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Seymore; mother / stepfather, Clara Wilson and Willie Wilson; father/stepmother, Henry Toomer and Nelzie Toomer; son, Tony Seymore; great-great grandson De’Andre Cotton; sisters: Thelma Harris, Janet Wilson, and Hazel; brothers: Hubert Toomer, Larry Wilson, Jerry and Clyde Wilson.
Bertha leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters: Brenda Cotton, Linda Clegg (Bobby) Sanford NC, Savonne Green (Anthony) Pittsboro NC and Phyllis Seymore of Moncure NC; grandchildren: Miranda Crump (Wade), Reginald Seymore (Tonya), Latoya Cotton, Tiffany Seymore, Brian Seymore, Tony Harrington, LaShaunda Seymore, Tekosha Rollins (Kevin), Waymond Seymore (Krystena), and Anthony Seymore. She had 20 great-grandchildren; sisters: Nellie Trapp and Willis Thomas of Moncure NC, Doris Harris of Sanford NC, and Brenda Swann (Joe) of Brown Hill NC; brothers: Johnny Wilson of Moncure NC, John H. Toomer (Gretna) of Orange N.J, and Theodore Toomer (Janice) of Sanford NC; aunt, Nora Smith of Moncure NC; brother/sisters in law, Leander Seymour (Ruby), James Seymour (Mary) of Moncure NC, Paul Seymore (Mae Ruth) of Pittsboro NC, and William Cameron; her special friends: Joyce Smith and Jean Durham and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
