Barbara Cameron Davis

Mrs. Barbara Cameron Davis, age 80 of 611 Hatch Rd., Chapel Hill, NC passed on Friday, October 18, 2019 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, NC.

Our Beloved Mrs. Barbara Marie Davis Cameron passed away peacefully at UNC Hospitals Friday October 18, 2019. She was surrounded by family and friends. Bobbie, as we affectionately called her, was born April 12,1939 in Durham County to the late Lena Cameron.

She attended Durham Tech where she received her LPN degree. She worked at UNC Hospitals where she retired in the early 1990’s. She was a long time member of The National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses. Bobbie joined St. John’s Holiness Church in the early 1950’s. She held the following positions. A Deaconess, church secretary, and a member of the Women's Club. She was a dedicated member until her health began to decline.

Bobbie married the love of her life, Deacon Johnie “Son” Davis in 1955 to whom one son, Edward Davis was born. After the passing of her mother, Bobbie and Johnie raised her younger brother, Ricky Cameron, as their own. In her later years, she raised her grandson, Mario Davis, whom she loved and cherished.

Bobbie enjoyed traveling as an LPN with her long time friend, Mrs. Francis Beasley. When she wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed spending time with “her baby”, Keshon Cameron. She was his caregiver for 3 years. She loved all the children in the neighborhood and they lovingly called her Aunt Bobbie. Her neighbor, Chelsey Semone Hawkins, held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Redell Cameron; her sister, Delores Cameron; her granddaughter, Tiffany Davis and her special sister-in-law, Annie Mae Davis Cain.

She is survived by her son, Edward Davis (Theresa); her brother, Ricky Cameron (Debra); one aunt, Louise Thomas Wilson; three grandchildren, Mario Davis, Erika Davis, and Tarek Davis; one great grandson; eight nephews: Gregory Alston (Tammy), Rickie McKinney, Jamie Moses, Franklin Cain, James L Cain, Ervin Cain, Hunter Cameron, and Keshon Cameron; six nieces; Sheila Caldwell,  Marilyn Dunlap, Vickie Cain, Patricia Spann, Gwendolyn Glenn and Willa Faye Davis and a host of other relatives and friends.
