Archie C. Allen

Archie C. Allen, age 81 of 2728 Mt. Pisgah Church Rd., Sanford, NC passed on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital. 

Archie Clark Allen was born on March 15, 1937, to the late James C. and Dora Lee Allen in Harnett County. He passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, NC. Archie was supported and surrounded by his family and friends during his transition.

Archie was educated as a child in Lillington, NC at Shawtown school.

As an adult Archie was a faithful member of Norrington AME Zion Church and loved to serve in any way that he could. Archie also loved to sing quartet music and was especially fond of the Sons of Destiny.

Archie was a people person and never met a stranger. He loved to talk and would engage with anyone who wanted a good conversation. He could often be found enjoying coffee at the local Waffle House and Pantry. Archie also loved guns, knives, boxing and Duke basketball. He was a well-rounded man.

Archie was a family man who loved and supported his family through various jobs. Over the years he worked at CP&L, the A&P grocery store, in the Lee County public school system as a custodian, and performed custodial duties at W.B Wicker School as well. He believed in working hard and making an honest living.

Although Archie loved many things, the love of his life was Delia Ann Allen who preceded him in death. They were married for over 50 years and from that union two sons were born, Carlos Allen (deceased) and Staffon Allen.

Archie was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles W. Allen (widow, Irma) of Woodbridge, Virginia.

Archie leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Staffon Allen (Vonne) of Beaver Creek, Ohio; one daughter, Amelia Cotten of Sanford, NC; one brother, James A. Allen of Lumberton, NC; five sisters, Rosa L. Montgomery (Samuel) of Bronx, NY, Decey J. McDougald, Ada P. Brown-Miller, and Shirley J. Worthy (Everette), all of Sanford, NC, and Alvis Delois Allen of Broadway, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
