Annie Jane (McLucas) Powell

Mrs. Annie Jane Powell, age 78 of 3002 Kendale Dr., Sanford, NC passed on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Hock Family Pavillion Durham, NC.

Mother Annie Jane Powell was born on November 04, 1940 to Mrs. Mamie L. McLucas and Mr. James “Gene” H. Johnson.

Mother Annie received her education from the Lee County School System (W.B. Wicker).  She was a very friendly, loving, hard working woman who loved the Lord.  She worked hard to provide for her family.  She often stated that she went from babysitting, being a short order cook, working at Federal Spinning Corporation, A.J. Schneierson, Coty and finally Walmart to support her family and herself.  She said that working as a cook, helped her to become the great cook and baker that her family said she was.  Mama had a strong desire to “Put the Lord First” in everything she did.

She was a member of True Apostolic Deliverance Center under Apostle Samuel Thomas, until he retired, and now Pastor Jacques Thomas.  Mother Annie, was one of the Mother’s at True Apostolic Deliverance Center, until her health failed.  She also was a member at Ebenezer Gospel Assembly, under the leadership of Pastor Deloris Curry.

Mother Annie Jane Powell transitioned from her earthly home on February 21, 2019.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Powell, her son, Frederick Wayne McLucas, her mother, Mrs. Mamie L. McLucas, her father, Deacon James H. “Gene” Johnson, her siblings: Clawson “Buck”, Carro “Carl Junior”, Willie, Melvin, Lillie Pearl, Pamela, Jannie, Paul, Jimmy, Dennis, Jessie, Bobby and Frederick.

Mother Annie Jane leaves to cherish her precious memories: four children: Wanda (Eugene) of Jacksonville, FL, Marshall (Joan), LeVerne (Theenda) and Michael all of Sanford, NC; thirteen grandchildren: Wanda (Ricky), Willie, Frederick Jr. Talisha,  Marshall Jr. Lysander, Zenas, Cevaun, Samiya, Kristian, Michael Frederick, Isisah, Iaan and eight great grandchildren: Jerrell, Kyla, Josiah, Jareem, Lasavion, Ariana, Tamia and Harper Shay.

Mother Annie Jane has two sisters: Mother Della Barrett and Deaconess Helen Covington; four brothers: Robert “Donnell”, Thurman (Minister Annie), Herman (Minister Ola) and Deacon Wade (Pastor Patricia) all of Sanford, NC; and a host of loving family (cousins) and friends.
