Annie Grant Obituary

Annie L. Grant, age 73 passed on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, NC.

Annie Lou Grant transitioned from her journey on earth to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. She was the sixth born on October 1, 1944 to the late Douglas and Lisher McNeil in Harnett County, North Carolina.

Annie Lou attended Johnsonville High School and Fayetteville Tech. At a young age, she accepted Christ, joined and became a member of Murchison Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

Throughout her life, Annie Lou wore her smile. She loved everybody and was the most forgiving person. She loved her family, enjoyed gatherings, and sharing meals with others. She is legendary for her cooking, especially her chocolate cakes. She was an excellent seamstress with great patching skills. She was dubbed as a fashionista for her versatile style. Her wisdom and joyful spirit will be missed. Gone but never forgotten.

Later in life, she retired from Eagle Electric, relocated to Detroit, and married Bobby Grant on October 1, 2001. She attended Fifth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the Church Secretary and Church Director. In 2013, she returned to Sanford, NC, to be closer to her beloved family. She continued serving the Lord at Christian Life Family Worship Center, where she sang in the choir and served on the Missionary Board. Annie Lou served faithfully to the end of her life her on earth. She lived her life in such a way that others could see that she walked by faith. Her favorite songs were “Somehow I Made It” and “Lukewarm”.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas McNeil Jr., one sister, Clara Gilchrist, and one stepson, Kiane Lewis.

She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters; LuAnn Marshall of Cameron, NC, Johneatta McLean and Yolanda Marshall (Walter) both of Greensboro, NC; one stepdaughter, Takisha Lewis, of Detroit, MI; three adoptive daughters, Alexis and Sierra Grant and Theresa O’Neal all of Detroit, MI; seven brothers, Johnny McNeil, Paul McNeil (Onelia) both of Sanford, NC; Richard McNeil (Patricia) of Albany, NY; Thurman McNeil (Helen) of Siler City, NC; Harold Brooks, Tyrone Brooks (Agnes), and Anthony Brooks (Deborah) all of Sanford, NC; five sisters, Hildra Nelson of New York, NY; Phyllis Johnson, Cinder Goldston (Walter), and Robin Brooks all of Sanford, NC; and Lawanda Carter (Tom) of Spring Lake, NC; ten grandchildren, Rodriquez Marshall, Anthony Edwards Jr., and Janelle Thomas (Steven) all of Sanford, NC; De’Orrin (Danny) Neal of Cameron, NC; Tylisher (Dejan) Brown of Fort Stewart, GA; Kevin and Autumn McLean both of Bear Creek, NC; Jaslyn (Donica) Thomas of West Palm Beach, FL; Dashane and Donata Lewis both of Detroit, MI; one great-grandchild, James McLean of Sanford, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
