Welcome to the memorial page for

Zachariah Headen

December 10, 1942 ~ June 18, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Mr. Zachariah Headen, age 74 of 12 Sycamore Trail, Sanford, NC, formerly of  Goldston, NC passed on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

Mr. Zachariah J. Headen, born December 10, 1942 in Goldston, NC to the late Roland Perry and Beulah R. Headen-McCrimmon of Carthage, NC. Having entered into this life by young parents, Zachariah was raised by his grandparents, Zachary and Nina Headen whom he loved dearly. He was educated in the Chatham County School System graduating June 1962 and later received his barber license at Bull City Barber College in Durham, NC.

On May 4, 1963, Zachariah married the lovely and beautiful Maggie L. Ledbetter (deceased). Born to this matrimonial union was one daughter, La Kimbrelle.

Hair cutting was not the profession Zachariah settled on, as he explored other opportunities after relocating to Washington D.C. to include, a public transportation bus driver for the Capital City and security personnel for NASA. However, in the early 1970’s, Zachariah decided to follow his dream and opened Goldston Paint and Shop, where he owned and operated until 2000, by which he relocated to Mercer Island, Washington. Shortly there after, he began a new business with a new concept, Mobile Paint and Body, LLC; operating it another 15 years until his declining health and desire to return home.

Upon returning home to North Carolina to spend his final days with missed family and friends, Brother Zack gave his life to the Lord…Oh what a change that came over him! The many days and nights as he sat on his bedside crying profusely on how blessed he was and his new relation with Christ. Maggie is definitely rejoicing over the answered prayers!

Unfortunately his days were limited as Brother Zack was not afforded the opportunity in “this life” to fellowship with his children all together. Nevertheless, as a new child of the Kingdom, he could only pray that his children will likewise receive Jesus Christ into their lives and hopes of one day reuniting on the other shore.

Leaving to cherish his memories; two daughters, La Kimbrelle Headen Street (James) of the home; and Kimberly “Princess” Turner-Darden (Shelton), Norfolk, VA;

one son, Zachariah Murdock of Monroe, WA; mother, Beulah McCrimmon - Carthage, NC; brother, Herman T. McCrimmon (Andrea) - Goldston, NC; brother, Chester McCrimmon - Clinton, MD; sister, Brenda M. Green (Don) - Greensboro, NC; Michael (Debbie) - Baltimore, MD; Beverly Perry; Genevieve Perry; Teresa Perry (Fredrick); Roland Perry, Jr. (Robin); and Dexter Perry (Sherry), and Gregory Perry (Rachel).

Seven grandchildren - Tiara White (Trelle); Xi’ana Waiters (Adrian); James L. Street, III “Zack”; Kevon Martin; Daylen Jones, JaKiaya Turner, Sheldyn Darden.

Seven great grandchildren - Kennedy, Kenyon, Kengston, Kentrelle, Sinara, Chanaya, Janaya, and Julian; and a host of other close relatives and special friends.

Most of my days, all I’ve ever known are the tunes of motors going
