Susie Bell Thomas

August 4, 1927 ~ August 18, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Mrs. Susie Thomas, age 90 of 1314 Berke Thomas Road, Sanford, NC passed on Friday, August 18, 2017 at her residence.

Susie Bell Thomas took her heavenly flight for Glory on Friday, August 18, 2017 as her time on this earth was done. She transitioned to that place God had already prepared for those who are called by His name (Call it Grace).  Susie was born in Chatham County on August 4, 1927 to the late Herbert and Cora Perry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Wesley Thomas Jr.

On April 22, 2000 she preached her first sermon at Foundation of  Power Outreach Ministries in Sanford, NC under the leadership of Apostle Tony K. Thomas. She later became the Local Minister at Mt. View A.M.E. Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. Jace Cox and served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Missionary and sang in the senior choir.

In 2008, she moved to Upper Marlboro, Maryland to reside with her daughter Darlene and family. While there she continued her fellowship with other saints by attending the New Home Baptist Church in Landover, Maryland under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Hicks. In May 2017, she came back home to North Carolina to reside with her daughter Althea and family.

During the course of her life, she became a Mother figure to many young men and women, and was a special Mother to Steven Thomas.  She was a homemaker and great cook.

Mother Susie had great knowledge of the Word of God and praised his name daily in songs and prayer.  Her love for humanity exemplified the Spirit of Christ, “Love one another as I have loved you”.

She leaves with cherished memories: her seven beloved children, Jerome (Sandra) Thomas of Moncure, NC, George Thomas of the home, Moncure, NC, Elder Debbie (Ben) Lee of Pittsboro, NC, Herbert (Barbara) Thomas of Chapel Hill, NC, Althea (Darryl) Thompson of Sanford, NC, Apostle Tony Thomas of Durham, NC, and Rev. Darlene (LeeVern) Peoples of Upper Marlboro, MD; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, one sister, Novella Nettles of Moncure, NC, cherished nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
