Pattie Lois (Brooks) Richardson

Mrs. Pattie Lois Brooks Richardson age 90, of 259 Richardson Rd., Pittsboro, NC passed on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro, NC.

Mrs. Pattie Lois Brooks Richardson, the baby of Mr. Edgar and Mrs. Lizzie Harris Brooks was born May 18, 1927 in Pittsboro, NC.  She departed this earthly world to enter her eternal home on April 5, 2018 at the Laurels of Chatham.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Obie Richardson, her sons Lynwood Craig and Norris, her siblings Daisy Price, George Brooks, Maggie Lake and Bernice Perry.

Pattie attended school in the Chatham County School System.  She was employed by the Chatham Country School System working in the Pittsboro Primary School Lunchroom for over 25 years.  She enjoyed baking yeast rolls, desserts and many other sweets. After her marriage to Obie in 1949, she joined St. Matthews AME Zion Church where she served on the Usher Board, the Missionary Society and the Kitchen Committee until her health began to fail her.  She was always instrumental in preparing desserts and supportive in the fund raising for the church.  Her tasks included preparing old timey dishes or whatever was necessary to assist in the up building of God’s Kingdom.

Every other Wednesday she brought joy to the neighborhood children after the candy man had delivered a new batch of candy.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Joyce Glover (Charlie); her granddaughter Kia; her great granddaughter Amya; special nephew Robert Alston; special great niece Jarria; caretaker Dorethea and all the other family and friends who were so supportive during her illness.
