Lillie M. (Alston) Burnette

Mrs. Lillie M. Burnette, age 92 of 246 Alton Alston Rd., Pittsboro, NC passed on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro, NC.

Lillie Mae Burnette was born September 20, 1925 to the late Johnnie and Lecy Alston in Chatham County North Carolina.  Her health slowly declined, God finally called her home April 5, 2018 after 92 ½ years.

Lillie was known for her work in the community and her integrity.  She addressed issues and situations as she saw them. A woman that loved God and was outspoken, loving and caring with a heart of gold. 

Lillie was married to the late Henry G. Alston who departed this life on October 30, 1964.  Then she was united with Richard (Buster) Burnette who departed this life on April 29, 2002.  Her two sons, Frank Henry and William Eddie along with her 15 siblings preceded her in death.

Lillie confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mitchell Chapel AME Zion and remained a faithful member until her health declined.  She served on the Usher Board, Pastor Aid, Missionary, Conference and Homecoming Committee, Stewardess Board and Class Leader.

Sher leaves to cherish her memories grandchildren: Henry (Lois) Alston of Pittsboro, NC, Erika Green (Johnny) of Youngsville, NC, Kendrick and William Alston of Pittsboro; great grandchildren: Patrick and Roderick Alston, Jared Richmond (Alexis) all of Pittsboro, NC; great-great grandchild: Jayden Richmond; daughter in-laws: Helen Alston and Mary Alston of Pittsboro; brother: Joseph Alston (Fleta) of Durham, NC, sister in-laws: Ruth Alston and Hazel Alston of Pittsboro, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
