Mr. David Lee Sharp Sr., age 61 of 303 Old School Road, Carrboro, NC passed on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at UNC Hospitals Chapel Hill.
A Time to be born:
David Lee Sharp, Sr. was born February 20,1956 in Wilson County, NC, to the late Leroy and Alean Roundtree Sharp.
A Time to plant :
David loved his family and was best known as “DAW” to Anthony, Jackie and Phyllis. David was the Best Friend, Coach, Mentor, Big-Brother, Father, and Husband anyone could have asked for. Realizing he had to do more, David brought his whole family to Christ at St. Joseph CME, after being inactive because of illness.
A Time to build up:
David graduated from Chapel Hill Senior High in 1975 and pursued higher education at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, NC on a Football Scholarship. David moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he discovered his love for cooking. After traveling and cooking around the world, David returned to Chapel Hill, NC.
David began coaching basketball and football for the Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation Department and McDougle Middle School. He later began an AAU Basketball Organization called The Kings Basketball Club. He touched the lives of many, especially young men whose lives he was able to help mold.
His love for cooking lead him in a career that spanned more than 20 years at Nutrition & Food Service at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, N C. Throughout all of his posts, he was known as a pillar of the community.
A Time to love:
David was united in Holy Matrimony to Annette Clark Sharp for 33yrs and to this union was born three sons
A Time to die:
David departed this life on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at UNC Hospital Chapel Hill, NC after a long illness.
A Time to weep – time to mourn:
David leaves behind a host of loved ones to celebrate his homegoing: his wife Annette C. Sharp; sons, David Lee Sharp (DJ); Daquwan L. Sharp; Derritt LeTrai Sharp and Davon M. Sharp, Chapel Hill, NC. His daughter, Nicole Michelle Mason; foster –daughter Kenya Edwards; Twelve Grandchildren all of whom he loved and cherished. One Brother Anthony Leroy Sharp, Sr.; Two sisters, Jackie & Phyllis Sharp, Chapel Hill, NC. Two Aunts, Carrie Mae Bullock; Mary Farmer Wilson, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
