Mr. Willie Cap Austin

Mr. Willie Cap Austin age 80 of 127 Tom Womble Rd., Pittsboro, NC passed on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 2, 2012 - 11 a.m., St. Andrews Christian Church, 905 East St., Pittsboro, NC. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery.

Family Visitation: Tuesday, May 1, 2012, 7-8 at Knotts Funeral Home Pittsboro, NC.

He was a founding member of First Baptist Missionary Church of Pittsboro. He served as the church treasurer, on the deacon board and also the Sunday School Secretary for over 30 years.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 59 years, Betty Jo Sanders Austin, 6 children: Leon (Julia) Austin; Mary Jo (Johnny) Gilmore; William (Connie) Austin; Curtis Austin; Laura (Ivan) McClamb of Pittsboro and Martin (Renée) Austin of Smithfield, Virginia. 13 Grandchildren: Patrina (Donald) Evans, Timothy Austin, Tata Smith, LaToya (Brandon) Nettles, Jonathan Austin, Victoria Gilmore, Felicia (Scott) Johnson, Jerrod McClamb, Tamara Austin, Antonio, Daniel, Jason, Darius Austin. 2 step-grandsons: Johnny and Quinton Gilmore. 8 great-grandchildren: Rinaldo Jr., Brittany, Brianna Marsh; Destiny and Desirée Austin; Desmond Gilmore, Avery Nettles, Scott Johnson, Jr. 1 sister, Rosie Lee Tuck; sister-in-laws: Margrett Crump, Beachy Sanders, Vermel Sanders. Brother-in-laws: Johnny, Richard, and Hal Sanders. Special friends: Rev. Carolyn Ratliff, Florine Sanders, and Ernest Snipes. Faithful nephew: Adam (AD) Austin, Danny Austin, niece Minnie Lou Ingram and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
